A low growing showy Medicinal/edible shrub that rarely exceeds 1ft, bearing small red, fleshy edible berries boosting succulent like leaves creating a dense sprawling trail for excellant ground cover use. The sweet berries have a mealy texture and have a variety of uses, from flavoring beverages to teas and stews. Bearberries also have a long list of historical medicinal uses, particullarly for all Bladder and kidney infections, UTI's etc. The plants grow very well in all soils (including poor ones) and thrive on rocky/clay ground and slopes and are extremely hardy in zones 2-8. Winter sow or cold stratify for 2-3 months before planting. Easily germinates in spring. ....read more
